MEN’S HIKE
Saturday, October 12th
Our next Men’s Ministry social activity is a hike scheduled for Saturday, October 12. We plan to hike one of the trails in the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park near Santa Clarita (about a 40-minute drive from the church). Fun Fact – Vasquez Rocks was featured as background for 10 Star Trek episodes (including the famous battle scene of Captain Kirk vs Gorn, the reptile alien), MacGyver, Bonanza, and Blazing Saddles among many other shows and movies. In addition, the famed Pacific Crest Trail crosses through the park.
Pete Regli, an avid hiker and one of the men that joined us on the hike in June, will be leading the group as he has experience on trails within the park. The trail Pete has in mind does not include a significant elevation gain which sounds like it will be a nice easy-to-moderate level of activity. Depending on the preference of the attendees, we can flex the hike time up or down. I believe it may also be best to plan to bring food for a trail snack/lunch at some point during the outing.
MEN’S Serve
We had a great Serve Event at Harvest Home in West LA on Saturday, April 13th.
The men of Bel air church were able to build two outdoor sheds – these protective structures now hold mountains of household cleaning supplies, diapers, and other essential items. During rainy seasons, these sheds will also protect the rows of strollers and daily equipment.
as the men of bel air church, we care about women and children at risk. In Los Angeles County each night, there are more than 5,000 women who are homeless and pregnant, but there are less than 70 shelter beds for this critically vulnerable population. Harvest Home provides 28 private bedrooms for these women and wraps them with supportive faith-based programming, community, and hope.
